Here's our go-to when we find a great deal on chicken! We buy extra, smoke or grill it all in our Applewood or Cherrywood blends, and then have delicious, versatile chicken for days and days to come! Today, for day 13, we did just that, making chicken legs grilled in our Grapevine & Applewood Blend.
We followed our regular, super easy 2-step preparation method:
- We marinated the chicken overnight in salt, pepper, olive oil and garlic (our regular "spog" marinade).
- Then we grilled them in our Grapevine & Applewood blend for grills. (There is also a Grapevine & Applewood blend for smokers.)
Here you can see the chicken legs as we are just starting to grill them. The Grapevine & Applewood package is visible under the grill, and all that delicious smoke is filling the grill and infusing the chicken with mouthwatering Grapevine & Applewood flavor.
(Note: We always grill with the lid ON to capture all that flavorful smoke. We're just lifting if off here to show you.)
Here's chicken at the end of the grilling session. There's actually even more than this!!! We're in for delicious food for days to come!
For tonight's dinner, we enjoyed the Grapevine & Applewood smoked chicken legs with saffron mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables.
Chef's Tip: Have you ever tried grilling tomatoes? They are delicious! We have a large summer garden and are blessed with a big bounty of tomatoes each year. Needless to say, grilled tomatoes has become a regular side dish at our house each summer. And it's easy. You just grill them as you would zucchini or any other grilling vegetable. Try it!
In one grilling session, we made enough deliciously flavored chicken for lots more meals! Want to see what else we did with all the remaining chicken legs? We made Applewood Smoked Chicken Sandwiches on Day 14, Applewood Smoked Chicken Fajitas on Day 15, PLUS had enough to make days and days of lunches to take to work. Grilled/smoked Grapevine & Applewood Chicken is the gift that keeps on giving!
